NORFOLK, Neb. (US92) -
A special tribute and remembrance ceremony was held for those who are buried in the Norfolk Regional Center Cemetery.
Since the late 1800's, the cemetery has been located just east of the Victory Road facility, however, many of the graves do not have proper head stones or even markers.
Thanks to recent State funding, Regional Center officials created a memorial garden.
It includes a monument, bench and bushes on the cemetery grounds.
"This brings us all here together that we can remember those that are out here an tell them they are not forgotten," said Amanda Theisen, a Region Four Consumer Specialist.
As part of the ceremony, Norfolk Regional Center employees and members of the public cut the ribbon on the new memorial garden, lit a candle and held a moment of silence in honor of those buried at the Regional Center's Cemetery
