Mark Weisman rushed for more than 100 yards for the third straight game for Iowa.
Iowa City, IA (KTIV) -
Iowa looked far from the 2-2 team fans have seen in weeks past in the Hawkeyes 31-13 rout against Minnesota on Saturday.
After only scoring a field goal and clinging to a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Black and Gold exploded for 21 points and racked up 328 yards of total offense in the second quarter alone.
The defense did it's job as well, not allowing Minnesota to cross mid-field and held the Gophers to just one third down conversion in the first half.
With a 24-0 halftime lead, it was smooth sailing from there and the team was more than excited to reclaim the Floyd of Rosedale trophy.
"It was something we've been preparing for all week," quarterback James Vandenberg said. "It's been a goal, it's been a high priority and to be able to run over there and do it, was just awesome."
The Hawkeyes are on a bye next week.
