Officials: Juvenile playing with lighter likely cause of house fire

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Officials say a juvenile playing with a lighter is likely what started a fire that damaged a Sioux City home last week.

It happened around 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, at a house in the 100 block of Main Street.

Investigators say the fire was contained to a bedroom, but there was moderate smoke damage throughout the house.

None of the occupants were injured, however, a family pet was unable to escape and died.

The home has since been red-tagged.
