SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

A Sioux City man who owns a home where dozens of cats were removed this week now faces 14 counts of animal neglect.

56-year-old Mark Lanning was arrested on Wednesday, a day after police and animal control officers took out 54 cats from the house at 1818 Grandview Boulevard.

Officials found several dead cats as well.

Neighbors say no one has lived in the home for a couple of months.

The hungry, thirsty cats were taken to a rescue center.
