Recognition for a group of state employees with a long history of service.
Nebraska Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy and other state officials presented the "Governor's Employee Recognition Awards" at the Norfolk Veterans Home, Thursday afternoon. Over 50 employees, from various state organizations, were recognized for serving anywhere from ten to 50 years on the job.
Sheehy says that those being honored have difficult jobs that are worthy of public recognition whenever possible. Rick Sheehy, Nebraska Lt. Governor: "There are challenges that we face each and every day and some of those days are very difficult. But I'm here today to let you know that your work and your effort does not go unappreciated."
State officials are holding recognition ceremonies across Nebraska throughout the month of October. Officials say when they're done they will have recognized over 32-thousand hours worth of service to the state.
