A British man raising breast cancer awareness by swimming the Mighty Mo has finished his journey

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTIV) -

It was a one-thousand mile journey that took nearly two months, but a British man has finished his swim from South Dakota to Saint Louis.

Adventurist, Dave Cornthwaite began his lengthy swim on August 10th.

We caught up with him near Yankton when he passed through Siouxland.

He swam a thousand miles on the Missouri River, accompanied by a team in canoes and paddle boards.

Cornthwaite said he didn't know how to swim when he began this trek, but he never felt like giving up.

Along the way, he raised about 10-thousand dollars for breast cancer research.
