SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Sioux City is back in the blue. It is once again a finalist in the Blue Zones competition. The initiative is focused on making Iowa the healthiest state in the nation.
Winners will receive grant money for new projects, like trails, community gardens, and green construction.
Sioux City has been a finalist once before, but lost out to five other communities in May, including Spencer, Iowa.
The selection committee said they didn't see enough diversity in community represented in their first site visit.
An announcement on the second round of winners will come in January.
