Muessigmann falls short in "battle round" of "The Voice"

A Siouxlander battled it out on "The Voice" in hopes of moving ahead in the competition.

Country singer Casey Muessigmann, of Spencer, Iowa, battled rocker Terry McDermott. The duo sang "Carry On Wayward Son"... a classic from the band Kansas.

While the judges agreed the performance was stellar, judge Blake Shelton had to choose one. He picked McDermott over Muessigmann. Casey Muessigmann, "The Voice" Contestant said, "Blake, I just want to think you for everything you've done and I feel like I grew alot as an artist from this. Every single little challenge I have along the way is really what's going to help me develop as an artist."

Muessigmann is a Morningside college student.
