Polaris Industries says it's about to increase its presence in the Iowa Great Lakes area with an expansion in Milford.

Polaris already manufactures Victory motorcycles at this plant in nearby Spirit Lake.

A company spokesman is declining to say what will be produced in Milford, but last night, the Milford city council announced that Polaris has taken out a three-year lease on the facility that previously housed Klaussner furniture.

Polaris has been producing a line of electric vehicles on a limited basis out of a small part of the facility.

The Milford city council approved the concept of an economic development agreement with Polaris that includes up to one-million dollars in tax increment financing that would be appropriated each year for ten years.

The Polaris spokesman says they're on the fast track to renovate the building and hope to begin operations on a larger scale there early next year.
