YANKTON, S.D. (KTIV) -
Yankton, South Dakota officials say improvements to the city's water treatment system will cost a lot more than first thought.
The projected bill has reportedly increased from $19-million to $28-million because of damage to the water intake system during last year's Missouri River flooding.
Yankton's city manager says the upgrades are expensive but necessary because of an increase in water use in the city.
City officials say it might take a water rate increase or property tax hike to pay for the work.
