Argosy Owner still plans to submit proposal for new casino without MRHD

Wednesday, Missouri River Historical Development said it will partner with Sioux City Entertainment to bring a Hard Rock Casino to the Battery Building in downtown Sioux City. The company that operates the Argosy Casino, Penn National Gaming, says it will submit its own proposal without MRHD. To give you background, the state of Iowa requires an operator to partner up with a non-profit, such as MRHD, for a gaming license. With MRHD taken, the question is who Penn National Gaming will partner with? Penn says they have someone in mind, but they wont say who.

Sioux City business hoping for Hard Rockenomics

Sioux City is buzzing about the potential benefits a Hard Rock Casino could bring. Shops and restaurants nearby are eager it'll happen and hope it'll boost business. Jitters sells coffee and donuts on Pearl Street, which is right around the corner from the proposed site. Folks who work here say if a casino goes in, they'll expect more business and more hours. They also say they might see a few new neighbors.

Morningside College launches biggest fundraiser yet

Morningside College has launched its biggest fundraising project ever. The college wants to build an academic village, but it's going to take $50 million to do it. The school says it will use $18 million to pay for construction of a new classroom building and academic center. As part of the project, the library will also get a major facelift.
