NEAR SIOUX CENTER, Iowa (KTIV) -

One person is dead after a bad wreck near Sioux Center, Iowa Friday morning.

Sioux County officials say 31-year-old Lucas Ochoa-Valiente was driving his Toyota Camry westbound on 370th street just after 6 a.m., but failed to yield at the stop sign at the corner of 370th and Highway 75.

They say a semi-truck carrying a tanker, broadsided the car.

The county medical examiner says Ochoa-Valiente died at the scene.

The driver of the semi, 51-year-old Mark Heimgartner, was taken to the Sioux Center Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Traffic was re-directed for more than five hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
