MHRD reacts to Ho-Chunk announcement

The Missouri River Historical District is the non-profit that currently is partnered with Penn Gaming to run the Argosy.

Two nights ago, MHRD announced it would seek to partner with a company called Sioux City Entertainment.

They unveiled plans to develop a Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City.

"MHRD expected other applications. We are probably pretty excited about the competition. We feel we have the best application plan and certainly hope that we gain the license but I'm sure they'll be more," Mark Monson, the MHRD President said.

Monson says they screened applicants and went with the one they thought was the best.

He says they will submit their application to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission on the last day of this month.
