Fire crews battle massive grass fire in Le Mars

Fire burns near Floyd baseball complex in Le Mars, Iowa.

NEAR LE MARS, Iowa (KTIV) -

Firefighters from Le Mars, Iowa and surrounding communities spent much of Friday evening fighting a fire off of Highway 3.

The fire was located at the dump site across from the Floyd baseball and softball complex.

Witnesses say the fire started around 7:30 p.m. as a grass fire and then grew larger, fueled by dry conditions and strong winds.

No word on the extent of damage.
