Firefighters put out flames near Whispering Creek Golf Course

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Sioux City firefighters were called out to a grass fire that threatened dozens of homes near the Whispering Creek Golf Course.

Crews were alerted to a small fire around 8:00pm Friday, but dry conditions helped it spread quickly.

Sioux City Assistant Fire Chief Robert Wilson said about two acres of land was burned.

So far there have been no reports of damage to homes.
