NORFOLK, Neb (KTIV/US92) -
Norfolk, Nebraska crews had their hands full with two fires overnight. The first one broke out at the Budget Inn around 11:15 p.m.. The fire department says it started in the first floor laundry room and spread to the second floor balcony.
They believe flammable materials placed next to a heat source started the fire
All of the motel's guests were able to evacuate the building, but two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Authorities say damage to the motel is extensive.
Just after 4:30 Saturday morning, the fire department was called to an apartment complex at 118 Philip Avenue. Authorities say a third floor deck was on fire when they arrived.
The fire was extinguished and the deck deemed unsafe. The damage is estimated to be upwards of $10-thousand.
