SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Sioux City's Children's Museum is looking to raise money before it can open its doors for the first time. So, Bev's on the River partnered with the museum for an Oktoberfest themed fundraiser Saturday.
This was the 4th Oktoberfest at Bev's, but the first time they've paired along with the museum.
Hosts dressed up in traditional European clothing, as guests sampled a variety of German wines and beers.
All of the money raised from ticket sales will go toward the museum. As guests mingled, they looked at displays of the floor plans and designs for the new museum. They even got to listen to a live band and hit the dance floor.
"That fall weather is starting, and so it's a good opportunity to celebrate kind of that harvest festival. Have a little bit of beer, little bit of wine, and do it all for a great cause: the Children's Museum," said Kari Kellen, executive director of the Children's Museum of Siouxland.
Construction on the museum is expected to begin next spring. They hope to open the doors by the summer of 2014.
