Thousands of SC memorabilia donated to downtown public museum
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
A life-long Sioux Cityan has been collecting thousands of city memorabilia over the last 50 years. Ronald Millage Sr. jokes that some people think he's a hoarder, but some of his collectibles have made their way to museums across country.
He's recently made a huge donation to the Sioux City Public Museum. Parts of it are now on display in a new exhibit about Leeds... which was once its own city and is now considered one of Sioux City's distinct neighborhoods. The collection includes, yearbooks, souvenirs, and brochures. Millage never thought his hobby would end up at a museum.
It started with a bunch of boxes on a cold day down Sioux City Airport, and did I ever think it would end up, no I was just gonna go through them, and get a few things," Ronald Millage Sr. said.
The museum says Millage's donation totals about 3,000 memorabilia pieces, and nearly 4,000 photographs. It's one of the largest donations of artifacts the museum has received within the last 5 years.
