LITTLE SIOUX, Iowa (AP) -
A 16-year-old Little Sioux, Iowa girl has died after her car was struck by a train.
The Iowa State Patrol says Cailey Berndt did not yield to a train at a crossing in Harrison County on Sunday.
The train struck her vehicle, which ended up in a nearby waterway.
Berndt was flown to an Omaha hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The accident is still under investigation.
Berndt was a student at Maple Valley Anthon Oto.
Superintendent Steve Oberg says, "It's hard to lose any child, and she'll greatly be missed by many.
Many students at the school wore her favorite color, purple, to honor her today.
Counselors were available to talk to students.
Funeral arrangements are still pending.
