A South Dakota inmate has been put to death for killing a prison guard by beating him with a pipe and covering his head in plastic wrap during a failed escape attempt. Fifty-year-old Eric Robert received lethal injection Monday night in South Dakota's first execution since 2007. Robert was put to death in the same prison where he killed guard Ronald "RJ" Johnson in April 2011. Robert was serving an 80-year sentence on a kidnapping conviction when he and another inmate attacked and killed Johnson.
Later this month, another execution is scheduled in South Dakota. Donald Moeller is set to be put to death the week of October 28th for the 1990 murder of 9-year Becky O'Connell of Sioux Falls. He was convicted and sentenced to death by a jury in Yankton in 1992.
Even after using side-scan sonar to comb through the waters of the Missouri River, there's no sign of the 55-year-old missing boater from Ponca, Nebraska. Authorities say Steven Bevelhymer fell in the water while fishing with his brother Saturday morning near Ponca State Park and never resurfaced. Bevelhymer and his brother James, also of Ponca, were attempting to anchor their fishing boat when authorities say the anchor rope pulled them both overboard.

One contractor has requested permission to work on future phases of the Wesley Way segment.
