SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
To raise awareness and funds, the Sioux City Historic Preservation Commission is selling keepsakes.
The H.P.C. created four historically significant buildings that are in Sioux City.
The first four designs include the Woodbury County Courthouse, Central High School, the Badgerow Building, and the Peirce Mansion.
Each of the keepsakes is hand painted with a description and history on the back.
"It brings them into the forefront and there is a little write up about the building on the back so people can learn and have a part of history. So when their family visits, they can teach people. One of our main goals is to teach people and have heightened awareness about preservation," Jim Jung, a member of the Sioux City Historic Preservation Commission said.
The commission is also releasing a 5th keepsake during the holiday season.
They can be purchased for $24 at Lindblade's Sioux City Gifts located at 1922 Pierce Street.
The proceeds from the sale of these items will go towards continuing historic preservation efforts.
