SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KTIV) -
Former South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds is looking more like a future candidate for U.S. Senate.
The Republican has filed paperwork to explore a run in 2014 for the seat currently held by Democratic Senator Tim Johnson.
Rounds has said he will not make any announcement about his future until after the November election.
Last month, he was the keynote speaker at the Union County Republican Party's Lincoln Day Dinner.
At that event, he said the country needs to get the budget under control and stop what he calls the over-reach of the federal government.
Johnson has not said whether he will seek a fourth term in the Senate.
