Update: A Plymouth County fire at a rural home is deemed suspicious

NEAR HINTON, Iowa (KTIV) -

The Hinton Fire Department and Plymouth County Sheriff's officers were called to a house fire at 23019 Glacier Road in southern Plymouth County on Thursday.

Sheriff's deputies say the structure was an abandoned house and is a total loss.

They say the fire has been deemed as suspicious with no known cause at this time.

The Hinton Fire Department was assisted by Merrill and Sioux City Fire Departments, and the Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office.

The Plymouth County Sheriff's Office is conducting the follow up investigation.

Anyone with information on this fire or who may have seen a small red passenger car in the area around 11:30 a.m. on October 18th, is asked to call the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office at 712-546-8191.
