SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Some local kids went trick or treating a little early this year. Instead of looking for treats, they were looking for trash.
The beautification project along the Missouri River taught local middle schoolers the importance of being environmentally responsible.
"We decided that we wanted to do something. So, we called it trash or treat because you know it's close to Halloween and picking up trash is kind of a treat for the day, you know, treating the environment," said Desiree McCaslen, one of the event coordinators.
After the kids finished their work along the Mighty Mo, they learned a lesson about clean drinking water.
