SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
A longtime Sioux City business, Big Soo Terminal is hoping to expand its rail operations along the Missouri Riverfront.
The company stores various good brought in by truck, train, and barge.
Limited by their rail storage capacity, the company is asking the city for a 10-acre portion of Chautauqua Park to build a larger rail yard.
"And, that will allow them to bring in bigger trains. It will allow them to bring in more of the goods that they store their on site," explained SC Economic Development Specialist Chris Myres.
Big Soo has offered to purchase the unused park land $5,000 an acre.
