Posted:

While the focus is on the 2012 election, it's never too early to look to the next election.

Mike Rounds is.

The Republican former governor of South Dakota has filed paperwork to explore a 20-14 run for the U.S. Senate seat held Democrat Tim Johnson.

Johnson hasn't said whether he will seek another term in the Senate, which would be his fourth.

"I have no idea. The election this year isn't over yet," said, U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D) South Dakota.

Johnson will be up for re-election in 20-14.
