LINCOLN, Neb. -- -
Nebraska's one point win over Northwestern on Saturday soothed some critical Husker fans for a little while. Now the Huskers can turn their full attention to this week's game with Michigan. You can bet the Big Red hasn't forgotten last year's 45-17 beat-down in Ann Arbor by the Wolverines.
Husker quarterback Taylor Martinez is the Big 10's offensive player of the week. The junior accounted for 407 yards of total offense and four touchdowns to help the Huskers win 29-28 in Evanston. The comeback tied the largest fourth-quarter comeback in school history.
Martinez threw for 342 yards, the second-most of his career, and three touchdowns, adding 65 yards on the ground.
Even though they needed two touchdowns to win in the fourth quarter, Martinez says he was confident.
"I think everyone knew that once we got the ball back we were going to go down there and score again," said Martinez. "We have a lot of confidence in our offense, that no-one can stop us. I'm just glad our defense made that stop and got the ball back and we went down and scored."
"I think it's really good to have those kind of experiences because you we know how it's like to be down. We don't give up," said Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah. "The locker room atmosphere when we are down, it's incredible. Guys are picking people up. Guys aren't hanging their heads."
Nebraska hosts Michigan on Saturday night at 7:00 on ESPN 2. The Wolverines are ranked 20th this week with a 5-2 record.
