SPENCER, Iowa (KTIV) -
One of Iowa's shallowest lakes could get a makeover after the summer drought caused it to dry up.
Right now, Trumbull Lake, in Clay County, is nearly dry.
But, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources hopes to "reset" the lake-marsh system, and go from a shallow lake with murky water and no vegetation, to one that benefits waterfowl, shorebirds and all kinds of wetland wildlife.
That's what the DNR did for another northwest Iowa lake... Diamond Lake.
If all goes as planned, DNR officials could begin restocking Trumbull Lake with yellow perch and northern pike in the spring of 2014.
