MRHD & Penn National Gaming hearing to be held in Des Moines, IA

The owner of Sioux City's Argosy Casino and the non-profit group that holds its gambling license are going to court Wednesday. Missouri River Historical Development sued Penn National earlier this year, arguing it has the right to talk to other potential developers of a new land-based casino. Penn counter-sued accusing MRHD of breach of contract. Wednesday's hearing is in a Polk County Courtroom in Des Moines.

Green project where the rubber meets the road

Some blacktop has a shade of green in Sioux City. West 19th Street is being re-paved with asphalt that contains about ten percent recycled tires. Officials say the tire blend results in fewer potholes and may extend the life of the street surface by up to 20 percent. The local project will keep about 1,200 tires out of landfills. It's been done in other parts of the country, but this is a first in Sioux City.
