STORM LAKE, Iowa (KTIV) -

Storm Lake Assistant Police Chief, Todd Erskine says on Wednesday around 5 p.m. officers were called to 25 South Windsor Circle for a pit bull running loose.

He says they found the dog and it was acting in an aggressive manner.

Officers attempted to capture the animal but were unable to get it restrained.

He says the animal then charged an officer at which time the officer shot the dog with a Taser.

The Taser charge incapacitated the animal at which time police were able to retrain it and transport it to Lake Animal Hospital.

He says they made contact with the dog's owner, 26-year-old Juan Carlos Delacruz of Storm Lake.

Delacruz was charged with Keeping a Vicious Animal.

He was cited and released pending a court date.

No injuries were reported.
