SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Halloween came early to Sioux City's Peirce mansion.
The former museum opened its doors for an afternoon of spooky activities and tasty treats. The hosts were dressed in their finest get-ups from the early 20th century, including an appearance by the owner of the mansion, James Peirce.
Museum employees say it's a great way to use the house to teach and have a little fun.
"And this house is really exceptional," said Pat Brenden of the Sioux City Museum, and one of the members of the mansion restoration team. "So, it's great that it's 114 years old, but it still has a purpose and a function and a part of Sioux City."
The Peirce mansion was the site of the Sioux City Public Museum for nearly 50 years before it moved downtown last year.
