DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) -

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey says a new report shows the significance of organic farming in Iowa.

The report from the USDA National Agriculture Statistics Service shows that Iowa's 467 organic farms had more than 60 million dollars in sales in 2011, which represented two percent of the U.S. total.

Iowa ranks fifth in the nation in the number of certified organic farms.
