Sioux City reacts to CF Industries expansion

Thursday's announcement by CF Industries to expand the Port Neal site came as surprise to many. The plan was kept under wraps by the parties involved.

It was even listed as "Project X" on the agendas of state and county boards when they considered tax breaks for the project. Sioux City Mayor Pro-Tem John Fitch says the city was kept out of the loop.

"CF industries was an arrangement that was worked out between the governor's office and the Iowa Department of Economic Development and I believe that even the county was brought in later in the process, this was something that was state driven...but my understanding is that it will generate about 50 million dollars in tax dollars to Woodbury County," Sioux City Mayor Pro-Tem John Fitch said.

Fitch also says the city is very happy about the potential for new jobs, and business traffic it could create for Sioux City.
