Gavins Point Dam releases will be decreased in November

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it will take action this month to prepare the Missouri River system in case of another drought next year.

The Corps says it will decrease releases at Gavins Point Dam to minimum winter levels beginning the third week of November.

Releases will average close to 12-thousand cubic feet per second.

The action is intended to conserve water in the reservoir system.

Corps officials say this is the first of drought conservation measures they will take if drought conditions continue into 2013.
