Students and Siouxlanders met for a salute to the troops at WIT.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Sunday is Veterans Day and Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City decided to celebrate early.
At their conference center, students and Siouxlanders met for a salute to the troops Thursday afternoon.
Anyone who has served, will serve, or just wanted to say thanks was encouraged to show up.
WIT officials say the community college has a lot of enrolled veterans, about 275 right now.
They say it was even more, earlier this summer.
"Our population really went big when the National Guard came back in July. We had a big boost of almost 500 going to school here, back then," said Western Iowa Tech Admission Councilor Jason Palsma.
Palsma says their numbers have dropped since July because a lot of veterans enrolled in one year programs.
