Hinton will play for their first state championship after beating #6 Logan-Magnolia, 28-21, in the Class A semifinals at the UNI-Dome on Friday afternoon.
The Blackhawks led 21-6 at the half. Lo-Ma cut the lead to 21-14 and the teams again traded touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Lo-Ma recovered an onside kick with 1:45 left in the game, but the Hinton defense held and ran out the clock.
Hinton ran for 212 yards, while quarterback Morgan Wenzel added 250 yards through the air. Dalton Becker led the Blackhawks with 90 yards rushing, while Jake Hasselquist had 167 receiving yards. Hinton had 462 total yards, while most of Logan-Magnolia's offense came on the ground, with 340 rushing yards.
The unranked Blackhawks (10-3) will face #2 Wapsie Valley (13-0) in the championship game on Thursday, November 15th at 1:30 PM. Wapsie Valley beat BGM-Brooklyn, 40-18, in their semifinal.
