SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
You can help make a difference this holiday season by nominating your favorite nonprofit agency for Walmart's "12 Days of Giving" Facebook program. The Walmart Foundation last year gave out $1.5 million in grants through this campaign. 5,400 nonprofits were nominated and 145 were selected.
The Crittenton Center in Sioux City was one of the winners last year. Marian Burnett, Executive Director, said they received a grant last year of $10,000. She said they used the money for their emergency shelter to help create an outdoor volleyball court, along with bikes, helmets and other recreational equipment.
Charitable non-profits from across the country are eligible to be nominated. The deadline is November 18th.
You can nominate local organizations by submitting a 200-word description, including the nonprofit's impact in its local community. You can also can submit photos that show how the nonprofit helps families make ends meet.
A panel from Walmart will review the entries and the winners will be announced December 10th.
