Family back in their home after gas leak in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

A Sioux City family is back in their home after a gas leak forced them to evacuate Thursday morning.

It happened around 9:30 a.m., at 5401 Morningside Avenue.

Fire officials say a construction crew was digging near the property when they cut a one and a half inch natural gas line.

As a precaution, fire crews evacuated a nearby home at 1933 Sherman.

Mid American Energy crews repaired the line Thursday afternoon and the family was let back in their home.
