LAKE CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Family, friends, and community members came together to remember 23-year old Tyra Pierson, her 11 month old son Xavier, eight year old sister Madison and three year old brother Wyatt.

The four perished in a house fire early Tuesday morning.  Authorities determined a lamp cord shorted and started a nearby couch on fire.  A family friend who attended today's funeral service says the community has come together over the tragic event, but the family still needs help.

"The family is still in need of monetary donations, you know funeral expenses, things like that and there's going to be a benefit for people who maybe, don't know what happened, cause no one can plan for anything like this, that was a tragedy that no one expected," Tracy Hayes said.

Donations can be made to the Pierson family at any United Bank of Iowa Branch.
