Siouxland families celebrate Adoption Day by formalizing adoptions

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

November is National Adoption Month. The highlight was a mass adoption ceremony that took place at the Woodbury County Courthouse Saturday.

Several Siouxland families who have adopted, will adopt or are considering adoption gathered for the celebration. Families met with a local judge to formalize their adoptions and heard stories about what adoption means to others.

"They've always been a part of our lives, but now we will be responsible for these children, meeting their needs and wants, and loving them as much as we do," said Laurie Coyle, an adoptive grandparent.

The National Adoption Day Coalition expects there to be more than 4,500 adoptions formalized as part of National Adoption Day.
