SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Police have released the name of the woman who was shot inside a Sioux City bar.
It happened inside Mac Behr's on 4th Street early Sunday morning.
Lieutenant Mark Kirkpatrick says the victim is 20-year-old Natacha Butera. Kirkpatrick says she was shot in the arm, and the bullet went into her chest. She was taken to Mercy Medical Center where she's listed in fair condition.
Police say she was shot by 24-year old Soloman Harris. They say Harris was arguing with another man and fired .45 caliber handgun, hitting Butera. Harris is charged with Assault while Participating in a Felony and Reckless Use of a Firearm.
Woodbury County District Clerk of Court documents show Harris' Preliminary Hearing is scheduled on November 28th at 9:00 a.m. at the Law Enforcement Center. Harris' bond is set for $75,000.
Kirkpatrick says Butera is a foreign exchange student at Briar Cliff University.
The university released a statement Monday morning in regards to the incident: "The Briar Cliff community is very saddened about this unfortunate situation. Our main concern is for the well-being and continued recovery of the victim. We are working together to attend to her needs and those of her family and friends and of our students.
