Martinez and Nebraska are a win away from playing in the Big Ten title game.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KTIV) -
Move over Zac Taylor, there's a new gunslinger in Lincoln.
Taylor Martinez was masterful in Nebraska's 38-14 rout over Minnesota, throwing for 308 yards while moving past Taylor on the career passing list with 6,140 yards.
The Corona, Calif., native completed his first six passes of the game, including a 36-yard touchdown to Kenny Bell.
Martinez finished 21-of-29, with nine completions to Bell.
In total, the junior hooked up with five different receivers and averaged better than 10 yards per completion.
"There's so many great quarterbacks that have gone through here. Especially with Joe Ganz, and how much he's helped me," Martinez said. "I couldn't have done it without Joe Ganz and Tim Beck."
Nebraska needs a loss by Michigan or a win over Iowa on Friday to clinch a berth in the Big Ten Championship game.
