UPDATE: Police say shooting victim was in the wrong place, at wrong time

A woman is in the hospital after being shot in the chest at a Sioux City bar. It happened inside Mac Behr's on 4th Street early Sunday morning. The woman's name has not been released, pending notification of family members who live outside the country. Twenty-four-year-old Soloman Harris was arrested at the scene and faces several charges, including assault while participating in a felony and reckless use of a firearm. Police say the victim just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Community finding closure after 4 people killed in tragic fire

Funeral services were held in Lake City, Iowa on Saturday for four family members who died in a house fire. Family, friends, and community members gathered to remember 23-year-old Tyra Pierson, her 11-month-old son Xavier, eight-year-old sister Madison, and three-year-old brother Wyatt. A fund to help the family cover funeral expenses has been established at the United Bank of Iowa.

Hinton unveils new public safety center

First responders in Hinton, Iowa have a new public safety building. The $1 million facility has room for their trucks, ambulance, and police cruiser. They've been waiting for the new building for nearly a decade. Officials say its location near Hinton Schools will also help them respond more quickly to emergencies.

Siouxland families celebrate Adoption Day by formalizing adoptions

It was a celebration of new families. Saturday was National Adoption Day and several Siouxland families finalized adoptions at the Woodbury County Courthouse. Nationwide, more than 4,500 adoptions took place Saturday.
