Jury convicts Jandreau on seven counts following March break-in

LE MARS, Iowa (KTIV) -

A jury has convicted a Le Mars, Iowa, man on seven criminal counts after police say he broke into a home and assaulted a girl inside, last Spring.

Late Monday night, the jury convicted 20-year-old Matthew Jandreau of crimes including 3rd-degree kidnapping, assault with intent to commit sexual abuse causing bodily injury, first-degree burglary, attempted 2nd-degree burglary, criminal mischief, and drunk driving.

In March, Le Mars police say Jandreau broke into two local homes. While inside the second home, police found Jandreau in the basement, assaulting an 11-year old girl who was home sick from school, by herself.

There's no word when a judge will sentence him.
