Iowa DOT completes some I-29 projects; prepares for others

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

The holidays mean more traffic on the road.

And while some of the construction on Interstate-29 has wrapped up for the season, there is still some work being done and detours.

The new bridge that connects Wesley Parkway to Veterans Memorial Bridge in downtown Sioux City is officially open to traffic.

But if you're on I-29 North and trying to get to South Sioux City, Nebraska, there's still a detour that will take you to the Hamilton Boulevard exit first.

And, expect more traffic changes after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Iowa Department of Transportation Engineer Dakin Schultz said work will continue in this area throughout the winter months as weather allows.
