An early morning fire chases residents of a Sioux City apartment building outside. The fire broke out shortly after 4:00 Wednesday morning at the Argonaut Apartments at 11th and Nebraska Streets. There don't appear to be any injuries, but everybody who lives there was evacuated while firefighters cleared the smoke. There is no word yet on what started the fire or the extent of damage.
The federal judge overseeing the $1.2 billion lawsuit filed against ABC television by Beef Products Incorporated has recused himself from the case. BPI is suing ABC News for defamation for its coverage of their signature product, lean, finely textured beef, or LFTB. Judge Lawrence Piersol recused himself from the case... although it's not been made public why he did so. The case has been reassigned to Chief Judge Karen Schreier.
Jackson Recovery Centers is expanding with a new $9-million Child and Adolescent Recovery Hospital. The new 48,000 square foot building will be built on undeveloped land on West Fourth Street, west of River Hills Recovery Center. Construction on the 84-bed facility should be complete in the spring of 2014.
