NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV) -
A fire that investigators say was started by discarded smoking materials has caused extensive damage to Norfolk, Nebraska home.
The call to 816 Wood Street came in about 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters found flames and heavy smoke coming from the structure upon arrival.
An exterior wall and the attic of the house sustained moderate smoke and water damage.
Nobody was hurt, but damages to the home and its contents are estimated at $55,000.
The home's occupant is Jim Ollendick, but it is owned by the Ponca Housing Authority.
Fire officials say the blaze was started by smoking materials discarded under a deck earlier in the day.
