Shopper Karline Stabe looks for deals on Black Friday.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The hype this year was mostly about early Thanksgiving night sales, but traditional Black Friday shoppers say they still found some good deals.
Nearly all of the stores we went to had packed parking lots, but inside the stores, things were pretty calm, even organized. That's why some of the people we talked to say, there are advantages to waiting late to start shopping on Black Friday.
Karline Stabe from Elk Point, S.D., is a veteran Black Friday shopper, but she took her time this year.
"Kinda hit snooze a few times this morning because it was cold out so we didn't want to get too early of a start," Stabe said.
She came to Sioux City Target store in the afternoon with a list of things to buy for Christmas and still found many of the times on her list.
"I'm finding what I need so far, they do a really good job of keeping their shelves stocked," Stabe said.
Fifty inch TVs were part of Target's door buster deals, and as you can see there are a couple left, and that's why the store manager says, if you wait, you can still find some good deals..
"We had some door-buster deals that started at 9, but we had some traditional ones that started at 4 am that went up until noon, so despite when you chose to shop there definitely some deals to be had," Jenn Canny, a Target store manager said.
Over at the Southern Hills Mall, the parking was relatively crowded, but there were still deals to be had.
"I went to a store last night at about 8 o'clock, got some thing I wanted, came home went to bed. So, we just started again and actually the stores aren't that bad," Jill Mulder a shopper from Orange City, Iowa.
Regardless of when you hit the stores many shoppers say it helps to look at ads before you head out.
"Usually I get the ads in the morning on Thanksgiving and then I go through everything pull out the coupons that I want and kind a circle what I'm looking for, then I already have my list and go from there," Mulder said.
Some of the late shoppers also told us, if they don't find what they're looking for on Friday, they may try shopping online on Cyber Monday.
