Nebraska and Iowa officials say the agreement is still being finished for the Decatur Toll Bridge.
DECATUR, Neb. (KTIV) -
It's a lifeline between Northeast Nebraska and Northwest Iowa and that was made quite evident when flood waters on the Missouri forced the bridge at Decatur, Nebraska to close.
Now, there's a deal on its future ownership.
Officials have been working on an agreement to take over a bridge that carries Nebraska Highway 51 traffic east and Iowa Highway 175 west over the Missouri River.
Bridge manager, Clark Beck says rising maintenance bills and costly repairs have taken a toll on the bridge commission's bottom line.
He says bridge tolls probably wouldn't keep up with the future costs.
Nebraska and Iowa officials say the agreement is still being finished and that no date has been set for the ownership transfer.
