Holiday cards are made for Siouxland troops overseas
Notes and cards will be put in holiday care packages sent to troops deployed overseas.
There are many Siouxlanders who won't be home for the holidays this year. But, they won't be forgotten.
A group of volunteers is making sure we support our soldiers. Support Siouxland Soldiers hosted a "Give-Back Tuesday" event designed with them in mind.
They set up a station at the Southern Hills Mall, where people could write notes and cards that will be put in holiday care packages sent to troops deployed overseas.
"It's really nice, especially for the holidays to get cards from people, from their friends and family, but then to receive a card from somebody they don't even know, it really means a lot, especially the cards from the kids," said Sarah Petersen, Co-Founder of Support Siouxland Soldiers.
The cards and care packages will be sent to 35 deployed Siouxlanders next week.
